Two weeks ago I bought my new PC. It was ready last Friday so now I have it :-) I'm extremely happy about it. You can find the specs here. The RAID-0 Raptor disks are divided into two partitions. Windows Vista is installed on the C:-partition and Windows Server 2008 on the D:.
Vista Ultimate
Server 2008
Server 2008 as a workstation OS works very well. I followed a guide on the Internet to converted it from Server OS to Workstation OS. Some highlights:
- Server 2008 looks the same as Vista with Aero Themes enabled;
- Sidebar is missing;
- Lack of Bluetooth support. No built-in drivers and 3rd party drivers are not working;
- Windows Experience Index is missing;
- MSN Messenger 8.5 and Live Writer won't install. I installed the Messenger 8.1 MSI and copy+pasted the Live Writer and Messenger 8.5 from my Vista dual boot to Server 2008. Now they work fine;
- Skype 3.1 because the latest 3.6 crashes after logging in;
Unfortunately my Server 2008 partition is now corrupt. I was installing VS 2005 SP1/Vista Patch and ended up in a BSOD. After the reboot, many files were corrupted. This was probably caused by wrong RAID drivers. I used the default drivers of the OS. Guess it would have been better to install the Intel Storage Manager drivers.
